Little Red Riding Hood
The story of Little Red Riding Hood is about the relationship between a young girl and her grandmother. It is clear that they both have a special bond with each other and enjoy spending lots of time together. Her grandmother gave her a beautiful red coat and that is how she got her nick name, Little Red Riding Hood. Little Red Riding Hood took her grandmother who was not feeling well, a piece of cake and a bottle of wine through the woods to her house. Along the way, she is approached by a wolf that has a mischievous plan and distracts her from continuing her journey towards grandmother's house. The wolf manages to distract Little Red Riding Hood and while she is picking flowers, the wolf goes to her grandma's house where he enjoyed a tasty meal, the grandmother! When Little Red Riding Hood arrives at grandma’s house and she isn't anywhere to be found and soon realizes her grandmother is now a wolf. The wolf had just enjoyed her grandmother and now is about to enjoy Little Red Riding Hood. Thankfully a few hours later a hunter becomes concerned about the grandmother and soon realizes the wolf had eaten them and he was able to rescue them both from the wolf’s belly. Little Red Riding Hood learned a lesson that her mom had earlier warned her about, not wandering off the path to grandma's house. With this lesson learned she was able to safely travel to grandma’s house and not be distracted by another wolf ever again.
I love this story because it emphasis the special bond Little Red Riding Hood had with her grandma and the importance of taking care of each other. Another reason I like this story was because earlier in the story her mother had warned her about the wolf and Little Red Riding Hood needed to ignore any distractions and go straight to grandma’s house. Little Red Riding Hood didn’t listen to her mom, became distracted and the outcome of the story could have ended much differently. Her wise mother was looking out for her, and it was Little Red Riding Hood job to listen and obey what her mother had told her earlier that morning. As I got older, I realized the true meaning of the story, that mothers know best and understand life better than a young child. They can see situations and understand them better than we can, and we might not always want to listen to them but they do know best and are just looking out for us.
My twist on Little Red Riding Hood
There once was a little girl who had an amazing relationship with both her mom and grandma and together they would spend lots of time together. Together they would bake delicious pastries, watch movies, tell stories, and most importantly make memories together. For Little Red Ridding Hood's birthday they had all planned to have a picnic at the nearby park one Sunday afternoon. That particular morning was chilly, cloudy and dreary, which wasn’t the best day for a picnic but they still prepared sandwiches, snacks, and made grandma’s famous cookies to enjoy later. With the help of her mom they got the picnic basket and blanket to take along with them to the park. Little Red Riding Hood couldn’t wait to spend her birthday with her mom and grandma and to play on the swings at the park, which she has been looking forward to for a few days now. Before they left for the park, her grandmother gave her a birthday present, a red coat. Of course she loved her gift because red was her favorite color and she needed a jacket to wear on that cool, chilly, fall day at the park. As soon as they got to the park the sun came out and the chilly, dreary day turned into this beautiful Sunday afternoon at the park. The girls had such a great time enjoying their lunch, telling stories, laughing together, and of course playing on the swings with Little Red Riding Hood.
Her mom thought this coat was just a normal red coat but that was far from the truth. This coat was no ordinary red coat; it had special powers and an imagination that helped Little Red Riding Hood explore life.
I like your twist on the folktale. However, who's perspective is this story? Who is telling the story to the reader? Be sure to have that handy because I think the assignment specified that we determine who or what is telling the story. Other than that, great job I like the twist!
ReplyDeleteI loved your twist. The only thing I would have liked to know more about is how the fairy dust got on the coat.
